秋田・大館城代佐竹氏が下級武士の副業として奨励したことから広く製作されてきた大館曲げわっぱ。秋田の豊富な資源「秋田杉」の特徴を最大限に活かすため、ご飯を入れる器は「白木」を基本として製作致しております。ご飯の美味しさはもちろんのこと、白木本来の手触りや香りを実感していただきたいという願いもございます。また、お客様からのご意見に耳を傾け、常に「暮らしとともにある道具」である曲げわっぱを追及し、今日の暮らしに潤いを与えられる物づくりを心掛けております。
Odate Magewappa (woodcraft using bent wood) is a speciality craft of Akita prefecture. The craft was promoted in the past by Odate castellan, Satake as a low-rank samurai's side business. Making the best of Akita's abundant "Akita-sugi (cedar)", rice boxes are made in principle, with raw wood. This is to preserve the taste of rice, and also to enjoy the touch and scent of wood. Yoshinobu Shibata Enterprises listens carefully to customers' views, and strives to create goods that add pleasance to modern life by providing magewappa as a "utensil for everyday life".
