創業明治5年（1872年）の老舗。仙台箪笥を創業の地において140年間製造し続ける仙台においても唯一無二の存在。その歴史をたどると、戦後、他の製造元が、洋家具に偏重していく中でも愚直に仙台箪笥を作り続けてきた仙台箪笥への強いこだわりに行き着きます。現在は、昭和初期に建てられた古民家をショールームとして、現代の生活様式と和家具である仙台箪笥の新しい共存の仕方を提案しています。
Well-established business starting from Meiji 5 (1872), Monmatsu has been Sendai's (Miyagi prefecture) one-and-only manufacter of traditional Sendai-style Japanese "tansu" chests for 140 years. Even in the shift of other traditional makers from Japanese to Western-style furniture after the second world war, Monmatsu has stubbornly kept to producing Sendai-style tansu with a strong passion. Today, Monmatsu has a showroom using a early 20th century traditional Japanese-style house to present how to blend modern living and Sendai-style tansu in everyday life.
