<<Traditional Naruko Kokeshi>> It is believed that traditional Kokeshi dolls were created as children's toys in hot spring spa resorts in the Tohoku region at the end of the Edo era. Naruko Kokeshi are produced by craftsmen in the Naruko spa resort area in the north of Miyagi prefecture. They have a characteristic body line, with an arched waist and large chrysanthemum flowers painted on the body. Their bright faces are filled with old-fashioned innocence. The head and the body are detachable, and when you turn the head it makes a squeaking sound.
